Israel’s War
In our wars the press reports body counts of our soldiers and how many women, children, and non-combatants we’ve killed. I’m sure there is some truth to it. We rarely hear much about how many enemy combatants we’ve killed.
I see the press as reporting on war based on monetary policy and politics with sensationalism. They rush to be the first with a story, and the truth may possibly be in the mix. There is a noticeable difference how they report on other countries wars.
In the case of Israel they generally seem to hope we are outraged how Israel is “winning” or report like Israel is a bully because they are killing so many of their enemy mixed in with non combatants. To me they pick on Israel more than other countries and even our own country.
I can’t even imagine how many enemies we’ve killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. I know many reporters would love to report exactly how many enemies we kill because they like to call us bullies in attempts to sway public opinion.
I guess it would be difficult to give accurate numbers of enemy combatant deaths and our Pentagon would be reluctant to estimate so they don’t undermine our troops with public opinion and politics and I would say rightly so.
Another guess is that when dealing with other countries our press gets its “numbers” from a variety of sources including unreliable ones.
I’ve formed my opinion of Israel after seeing them endure many years of terrorism. They are their own country, our ally, and I support their right to defend themselves based on my beliefs even if it isn’t my business.
As for war in general, I hate it and find it hard to trust anyone, but that doesn’t stop it or even slow it down. I believe in our right to defend ourselves.
As long as there are people who are willing to fight there will be war it seems.
