My two cents (again)
My two cents (again): I know that whether I believe in humans punishing humans or not, they surely do. I can’t say that I have the courage to never punish another human being or the courage to not protect myself and my loved ones. I think “ideally” I would like people locked up even sometimes longer than they already are depending on the crime. I think this only because I don’t know what else should be done with them. I don’t want them killed or punished. (so far something that bad hasn’t happened to me that I would want that) I also hope that if something that bad did happen I wouldn’t want that. I don’t think punishment is appropriate or solves the problem of crime. It has been argued (and I agree) that even capital punishment doesn’t deter criminals. We as society do have a serious problem. It seems to me to be more of a social issue. I think much of the problem is the way a person has been raised in our society. We need to look for ways to bring people together. Good behavior or bad, starts at a very young age. Not one word that I have written here will solve societal issues. History has fielded many different societies with varying degrees of success. I believe karma is a cause and effect that not only affects this life but also our past and our future. I believe that people can overcome the type of society that people have created for themselves. You may not agree, but I believe that if people blow themselves to bits with nuclear warheads that the universe wont even blink an eye……..So why would we want to do that? I think that the word God is a poor word for what we want it to mean. My concept of God is that of life, living, and all that exists in some kind of unimaginable order. If I look at people, life, trees, the stars, I see an order that is unfathomable and seemingly impossible. This intelligent ordering of things or life as we know it I attribute to God. A scientist might project that this intelligent ordering is due to a natural phenomena or development process. They can call it what the want. If there is intelligent life out there, I’m calling it God. (sorry if my spiel isn’t biblically based)
