Semper Paratus
I often hear “sayings” that on the surface are popular and make sense.
“We don’t need to be the worlds police” is very popular and I’ve heard many Republicans and Democrats repeat it.
I don’t want Americans killed in war or anybody else. Reality that I sense tells me that SOMEBODY needs to take responsibility for a government, or countries, or thugs that get out of hand. I would rather we take charge of some of these radical countries before they take charge of us.
It is easier to ignore the problem and hope it goes away in the short term and our country has tried that in the past.
It hasn’t worked yet. I don’t blame people who don’t want to be in the fight or the people who think we are the bad guys for getting involved or the people who believe all we have to do is play nice and the rest of the world will follow suit. I just would like if those people wouldn’t hinder the “police” who are currently protecting them whether they realize it or not.
Many of those “police” are our own military and they are trying to be the worlds police in a world that does need policing in my opinion though admittedly armchair general public opinion and politics make policing the world even more dangerous and difficult than it already is.
I like “speak softly and carry a big stick” but the reason to carry one is so hopefully you won’t have to use it, but if you do you are ready.
I guess that’s why I like the Coast Guard motto Semper Paratus “Always Ready”.
